Watch the journey of a home business owner

31/01/2010 send to a friend
Two entrepreneurs have launched a useful site at www.inafishbowl.co.uk which follows three business owners as they start and grow their respective ventures. One of the ‘fishes’ is home based Marcela Flores Newburn who has an interesting story to tell and some equally interesting questions to address.
Small business in real time
The In a Fish Bowl site was launched to help anyone starting out with their own business. As the founders explain:
“Filmed through different stages and broadcast on the website, viewers can learn real lessons about starting a business through live twitter feeds, videos and blogs as the entrepreneurs share their experiences in real-time."
One of the Fishbowl businesses featured is Rico Mexican Kitchen run by Marcela Flores Newburn who makes Mexican sauces from her home kitchen and has secured contracts to sell through Harrods and Selfridges. Watch Marcela on video as she talks about how she got started (over a few beers with friends!) and the questions now being asked as she looks to grow the business to meet demand.

Comment: Running my own busineas has been an incredible roller-coaster ride of ups and downs, as I'm sure is the case for everyone in my position. The inafishbowl project is an interesting means to show our experiences to new entrepreneurs, the 'if i knew then what i know now' benefit of hindsight. You can contact me through the twitter link on the www.inafishbowl.co.uk website if you have any tips, ideas or questions. I have learned a lot on my jourmey to develop the business but there's so much more to learn, therefore, it would be great to hear your comments...do get in touch.
