Stop that sun!

Alex Johnson noticed on twitter this last week that lots of people are going out to work in the garden to enjoy the sunshine (and loving it so much that they're posting photos of their setup on twitpix). It's a great idea but, apart from sunburn, there's one drawback - monitor glare. Worry no more. Alex has found the answer.
My outer office
Invest in a Lapdome 'Outdoor Office'. Simply unzip the front door, pop it up and it shades your laptop from the sun and birds passing overhead. You should be able to wedge anything up to a 17-inch laptop in there and it also functions as a padded carrying case for your laptop for when you're on the move to other sunny spots.
A pocket at the back gives you storage space for your stuff. And if it looks a bit large, there's even a model which collapses down flat as well as a titchy model for netbooks. Even if it rains later this week, you know it's going to be a long hot summer... - Alex Johnson

Comment: Wow - what a fab idea.
Is it waterproof though? Here in Cumbria it's never safe to assume it won't rain :-)

Comment: Good Idea. I have a daylight readable screen on my laptop, so it works just fine in the garden. What am I doing in the garden, you may ask? I run http://bunnytick.com saving people £800 a year on their household bills including 5% off fuel.

Comment: I saw these over two years ago when we put the wifi internet access in for the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament at Calderstones Park. When the press photographers were using the public wifi connection to send their photos back to their offices, many of them had these around their laptops. The design was much flatter than the one in your picture but I remembered thinking that I must buy one for myself, talking of which, we will be there at the tournament again this year so I'd better get my skates on :-)

Comment: I have something similar... it's called a cardboard box with one side removed :) Bit cheaper too!

Comment: Excellent idea. Now I just need an anti-breeze gadget to prevent cartoons blowing around the garden as I draw them. Half a house brick doesn't strike the right cool factor.

Comment: What a great idea to use a cardboard box - I have plenty of those around with all the hardware we order in. Thanks Colin, Amanda :-)
