Making the right impression, by design

Jordan Scott relishes the moment when he hands over a completed logo/design/brand to a client. It’s the moment, he says, when the new business owner realises their dream of running a business has become reality. Jordan suggests good design is about looking the part, and sustaining customer loyalty in the years to come.
A true reflection
As a general rule of thumb I tell clients that design must reflect the quality of the goods or services the business is offering and engage with the target customer. In essence, it must talk visually and effectively to the customer profile.
First impressions last and design should achieve its goals within seconds.
It should be consistent; your logo should always appear in the same position, your brochure and advert clearly paralleled by the visual feel of your website etc. The consistent message is vital to remaining in your customers’ minds. Your design should have that ‘wow factor’, be memorable and set the correct perception of not only you but that of your business and the way in which you conduct yourself in business.
Design is the permanent face of your business. When you are not face-to-face with your clients your design may still be. Your website, for example, communicates your message 24/7, 365 days a year to a global market. It’s good design to get design right!
